Tandoori

Tandoori – Camel Hotel – Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt – Red Sea

Tandoori is set in the internal courtyard of the popular Camel Hotel Naama Bay. The open kitchen lends it self to a great cooking display and also cunningly tempts you with delicious spicy aromas.

Tandoori is a favorite with most of the local dive guides so most know the menu by heart and know the quality. There is a nice selection of starters with all the normal Indian staples but we decided to go straight to the main course.

One thing I do miss at Tandoori is a basket of complimentary pappadams and a selection of pickles – lime pickle always seems to set the meal off to a good start. Pappadams are on the menu but at quite a considerable cost for one.

The mixed tandoori grill is really quite immense so it is definitely value for money. There are tandoori chicken breasts, spiced lamb kebabs, salmon, and chops which arrive on a sizzling platter.

If you like lots of side dishes then the grill could easily be shared by two. All the meat was very tender with a great smoky spiced tandoori flavour.

We also ordered buttered naan bread and a yogurt and cucumber raitta which was the perfect accompaniment to the meat.

There are lots of other options if you prefer more sauce. The Rogan Josh is excellent, as is the Chicken Tikka Marsala. I also really like the Biriani rice.

Choose from side dishes like dhal (spicy lentils), spinach and cheese, spiced potatoes, and chick pea salad.
