Il Frantoio
IL Frantoio – Four Seasons Hotel – Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt – Red Sea.
A friend of mine decided to splash out and take his lovely wife for a birthday treat to the Italian restaurant Il Frantoio at the Four Seasons in Sharm el Sheikh and expectantly were very impressed
The restaurant is quite large, but the clever placing of tables, low lighting, combined with the elegant European décor made the ambiance very secluded and romantic.
The service was five star, and exactly what would be expected of such a prestigious hotel, helpful, courteous, but not invasive. There is an al a carte menu, but also a set menu described by my friend as the perfect way of tasting a selection of fine dishes.
The dishes were styled in the nouveau cuisine genre, small portions but excellently presented, yet fulfilling as there were four courses.
To start they had filo spinach parcels, then a delicate hand made gnocci course, following by a tender steak, and then delightful desert.
The wine list has a full list of international wines, plus some local bottles. My friends described it as relaxed and perfect, definitely a “high heels’ elegant dining experience.
It is a little rich on the pocket but well worth it for that special occasion.
